RF Layout & PCB Design#

Copper geometry as circuit design.

At RF frequencies, the PCB layout is not a physical implementation of the schematic β€” it is the circuit. Trace widths set impedances, return paths determine coupling, and millimeters of misplacement create measurable performance differences. The schematic is necessary but not sufficient; the layout is where the design actually happens.

Many RF designs that work in simulation fail on the bench because of layout issues. Understanding controlled impedance, return current paths, via behavior, and shielding is as important as selecting the right components.
