Drive Circuitry & Power Stages#
Every motor, solenoid, and actuator in this section shares a common requirement: a power stage that bridges the gap between microcontroller logic signals (3.3 V, milliamps) and the load (12–48 V, amps to tens of amps). The power stage is where MOSFETs switch, where inductive energy gets clamped, where current is sensed, and where heat must be managed. Getting the power stage wrong is the single most common reason motor projects fail — not the control algorithm, not the firmware, but a blown FET, a missing flyback diode, or a ground bounce that resets the MCU.
